Purchasing this class will give you unlimited access to a private Facebook group called “Magic Mushrooms” with Helen Godden. In this group you will have access to the design sheets and all 10 instructional videos, that will take you from start to finish just like being in the classroom.

Along the way you will learn 2 very different paint types and their associated techniques. Painting with Dye with control and Over Painting with Acrylic fabric paint. You will also have a full lesson in over 20 styles of Free-Motion Quilting. All together that is 3 different technique classes for the one price to create your very own Magic Mushrooms project.

“Magic Mushrooms” Online Class with Helen Godden

 This online class was filmed during an actual Magic Mushrooms 3 day Workshop in Maitland, North of Sydney, Australia. The students are real, the results are real and the fun was 100%. The 3 day workshop has been skilfully edited to share all of my painting and quilting demonstrations, whiteboard lectures and the best tips and tricks along the way. Learn how to paint with dyes and acrylic paints on fabric, 20+ Free-Motion Quilting styles and more. Enjoy over 2 hours of instructional video content in 10 step by step chapters. Learn alongside the students as they create their Magic Mushrooms quilts, ask questions and gain creative confidence.
Purchasing this class will give you unlimited access to a private Facebook group called “Magic Mushrooms with Helen Godden.” In this group you will access to the class documents, design sheets and all 10 instructional videos.

You will learn insights into Helen’s design process and how to make your colours POP, whilst adding impact, detail and interest! Your free-motion quilting skills will be enhanced and expanded as you learn so many different styles of quilting to add movement to your work, rather than flat missionary stippling!

In this group you will have access to the design sheets and over 2 hours of instructional content presented in 10 chapter videos, that will take you from start to finish just like being in the classroom.

Your finished Magic Mushroom masterpiece will be approx 70 x 60 cm (28 x 24″) 

  •  REQUIREMENT LIST
    • Magic Mushroom Paint & Dye set from Helen Godden** see below.
    • 1m x 1m/ 40″ x 40″(minimum) UNWASHED calico/muslin. Do the water flick test and see if it bleeds or beads. We want beads.
    • 1m /40″ cotton backing and batting to suit
    • Sewing machine, serviced, in good working order with darning/free-motion foot.
    • General sewing supplies such as snips, safety pins, spare needles and chocolate.
    • Black thread you know your machine likes to sew with. I use Rasant.
    • Black Sharpie  (bullet tip)
    • Frixion Pen
    • White chalk marker or iron-away Panda Pencil
    • Taklon synthetic brushes in a variety of sizes from fine point to 1 inch square 
    • Small bag of rock salt approximately 1 cup
    • Small water container for washing brushes
    • White ice cube tray as palette
    • BIG Cutting matt as a painting surface say 34 x 22” covered in plastic or use the back of an old one.

    GENERAL SEWING SUPPLIES

    • Iron and ironing board
    • paper and pencil to take notes during the mini lecture
    • scissors, snips
    • sticky tape to stick your pattern together
    • paper towel and windex to clean up the surface after painting
