Description
“Here’s to strong women – may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. ”
A new series of designs depicting portraits of “Women Who Made History”
Strong women. Independent women. Resilient women.
Despite her young marriage and the unscrupulous spotlight, Princess Diana bravely and determinedly went “against the grain” when she advocated for causes previously considered taboo amongst royals, including AIDS research, land mine removal and homelessness in the U.K. She was one of the first public figures to be photographed interacting physically with AIDS victims which went a long way for the cause to be recognised universally. Known as “The Diana Effect”, to speak and act beyond the royal traditional barriers, over 20 years since her death, this powerful influence is still evident in today’s modern British monarchy.
Her controversial “Marriage of 3” and her untimely death will be always remembered and her resilience is a legacy for women everywhere.
This design is a stylised portrait with strong geometric elements with a nod to the artwork of Modigliani and Leger, maybe even Picasso but with the emphasis on pride and celebration of “Women Who Made History”.
