The colourful Tui bird, the silver fern, and the “Hei Matau”, their Maori stylised hook design which products the traveller as they venture over seas. I thought of the beautiful Millifiori designs which incorporate circles interlocking into each other with beautiful colours creating a new design. My design is made up of overlapping circles, each circle containing another iconic element.

My teaching takes me all over the world, yet one of my favourite places to visit and teach is New Zealand, just across the ditch from Australia. Inspired by my recent trip I designed a piece depicting many of the icons of New Zealand, including their beautiful Flora and Fauna.
